About Hired! Program

The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program is a workforce-preparation and apprenticeship enterprise designed to meet the employment and career-exploration needs of Army teens 15-18 years of age.

Requirements

  1. Currently attending high school (proof of enrollment required)
  2. Must currently possess and maintain a 2.0 (C) grade point average or better throughout HIRED! Apprentice term
  3. Must be at least fifteen (15) years of age, but not older than eighteen (18) years of age at time of placement.
  4. Must be a registered CYS services participant
  5. Must have successfully completed six (6) HIRED! Workforce-preparation training sessions prior to placement in the HIRED! Apprenticeship Program.

Terms

  • Consist of four (4) twelve (12) - week terms repeated annually.
  • Participants 15-18 years of age are able to participate in a maximum of two (2) terms per year for three (3) consecutive years.
  • Apprentices must commit to 15 hours of participation within a seven (7) - day period, for a total of 180 hours per term.

Conditions for Employments

Subject to satisfactory completion of all local pre-employment checks (local background check). HIRED! Apprentices fifteen (15) years of age may work no more than:

  • Three (3) hours on a school day or eighteen (18) hours in a school week
  • Eight (8) hours on a non-school day or forty (40) hours in a non-school week.
