
About Hired! Program
The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program is a workforce-preparation and apprenticeship enterprise designed to meet the employment and career-exploration needs of Army teens 15-18 years of age.
Requirements
- Currently attending high school (proof of enrollment required)
- Must currently possess and maintain a 2.0 (C) grade point average or better throughout HIRED! Apprentice term
- Must be at least fifteen (15) years of age, but not older than eighteen (18) years of age at time of placement.
- Must be a registered CYS services participant
- Must have successfully completed six (6) HIRED! Workforce-preparation training sessions prior to placement in the HIRED! Apprenticeship Program.
Terms
- Consist of four (4) twelve (12) - week terms repeated annually.
- Participants 15-18 years of age are able to participate in a maximum of two (2) terms per year for three (3) consecutive years.
- Apprentices must commit to 15 hours of participation within a seven (7) - day period, for a total of 180 hours per term.
Conditions for Employments
Subject to satisfactory completion of all local pre-employment checks (local background check). HIRED! Apprentices fifteen (15) years of age may work no more than:
- Three (3) hours on a school day or eighteen (18) hours in a school week
- Eight (8) hours on a non-school day or forty (40) hours in a non-school week.
